John Deere Foundation Launches $18.5 Million Farm-to-Plate Strategy Linking Farmers and Food Banks Over Three Years

MOLINE — The John Deere Foundation has announced an $18.5 million multi-year Farm-to-Plate strategy to support Feeding America partner food banks and move food from farms to communities across the United States. The foundation, tied to Deere & Company in the Moline, Illinois area, released the plan on October 13 via PR Newswire.
The centerpiece is a $17 million, three-year commitment to Feeding America, including a new Farm to Food Bank initiative in Iowa that will help three food banks grow participation to more than 100 local farmers, national sourcing and distribution support across Feeding America's network of 250-plus food banks, and employee meal-packing events projected to involve about 22,000 employees packing 1.8 million meals from 2026 to 2029. More than $13 million of the total will support food security work in Iowa.
A separate $1.5 million, three-year investment in The Farmlink Project is projected to rescue 6.4 million pounds of fresh produce, deliver 5.3 million meals, reach more than 273,000 people and support 30 to 60 farming operations. Founded in 1948, the John Deere Foundation has contributed more than $400 million over its history, with a focus on hunger relief, education and community development.
