Broadway's First New Musical of the Season, 'Wanted,' Begins Previews October 15

NEW YORK — Wanted, the first new musical of Broadway's 2026-27 season, begins previews on Thursday, October 15, at the James Earl Jones Theatre (138 West 48th Street), ahead of an opening night on November 8. According to Playbill, the production announced its digital lottery policy ahead of the first preview, offering a limited number of $35 tickets for each performance.
Wanted is inspired by a true family story. In Texas in 1893, twin sisters Mary and Martha Clarke, Black women who could pass for white, hid in plain sight while on the run and were driven to outlaw measures to settle their mother's sharecropper debt and save the family home. The book and lyrics are by Angelica Chéri, a descendant of the Clarke sisters, with music by Ross Baum. Tony nominee and Obie winner Stevie Walker-Webb directs, with choreography by Chelsey Arce. The running time is about 2 hours 15 minutes, including one intermission.
Solea Pfeiffer stars as Mary and Liisi LaFontaine, in her Broadway debut, as Martha. Grammy winner Ledisi plays their mother, Tallulah, with Luke James and Bradley Jaden also in the cast. The musical was previously produced as Gun & Powder at Signature Theatre and Paper Mill Playhouse.
Lottery entries open at midnight the day before each performance at Rush.Telecharge.com; winners are drawn at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the day of the performance and may buy up to two $35 tickets.
