Dodgers Face Elimination in NLCS Game 4, With Glasnow Starting Against the Brewers

LOS ANGELES — Game 4 of the National League Championship Series takes place Thursday night, October 15, at Dodger Stadium, with first pitch at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on FS1. The defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers trail the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 in the best-of-seven series and face elimination with one more loss; Milwaukee needs a single win to reach its first World Series since 1982.

The Brewers have won the first three games 2-1, 7-4 and 6-2. In Game 3 on Wednesday, left-hander Robert Gasser threw five scoreless innings, Jake Bauers capped an 11-pitch at-bat with a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh, and Garrett Mitchell followed with a back-to-back home run as Dodgers starter Blake Snell took the loss over six innings, as GSM reported this morning.

With the season on the line, Los Angeles turns to right-hander Tyler Glasnow. The 33-year-old made just 13 regular-season starts, going 5-2 with a 3.53 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 74 innings; in Game 4 of the Division Series against Atlanta he allowed one run over 4⅔ innings but walked five. Manager Dave Roberts has confirmed that neither Tarik Skubal nor Yoshinobu Yamamoto will pitch in Game 4, leaving a nearly full bullpen behind Glasnow. Milwaukee's starting pitcher had not been announced as of Thursday morning.

Only one team in Major League history — the 2004 Boston Red Sox — has come back from 3-0 down to win a best-of-seven postseason series. The Dodgers' lineup has gone flat in this series, with Shohei Ohtani struggling. First baseman Max Muncy summed it up to USA Today: "It's a pretty simple answer. We're playing badly and they're playing great."
