Colorado Governor and OEDIT Receive Competitiveness Council Roadmap for Review

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · States · GSM News

Colorado Governor Jared Polis and the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) have received a roadmap from the Governor's Competitiveness Council, and the governor said he looks forward to reviewing its recommendations to support homegrown businesses, attract new companies to Colorado and make the state's economy stronger.

The council, made up of business and community leaders, was convened to identify the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities facing Colorado. Dr. Marielena DeSanctis, chancellor of the Colorado Community College System, said a competitive economy requires developing, retaining and advancing local talent while attracting new investment, and that connecting the skills Coloradans have with the opportunities employers are creating strengthens businesses, communities and the state's economic future. Seth Levine, partner and co-founder at Foundry, said Colorado has fallen behind, with fewer companies starting in the state and too many leaving to scale, and that the roadmap offers a data-driven framework to make Colorado the premier state for starting and scaling businesses again.

The governor's office said the recommendations will be reviewed to determine how they can be put to work.
