46 Virginia Tourism Marketing Programs to Receive $205,300 in Matching Grants, Governor Announces

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger announced in Richmond on October 14 that $205,300 in matching grant funds will be awarded to 46 tourism marketing programs through the Microbusiness Marketing Leverage Program (MMLP), to support small businesses, downtown business associations and chambers of commerce in attracting visitors and increasing tourism spending during Virginia's off-season, according to the governor's office.
The grants support local tourism promotion efforts, with recipients providing matching investment under the program's terms. The MMLP is one of the state's recurring channels for supporting local tourism economies, and this round covers 46 programs.
The governor's office the same day released a statement congratulating Dr. Richard Linton on his appointment as the 17th president of Virginia Tech. The tourism grant awards were announced in Richmond.
