Sweden's PES Unemployment Rate Falls to 3.6 Percent in September

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · World News · GSM News

STOCKHOLM — Sweden's Public Employment Service (PES) unemployment rate for September was 3.6 percent, down from 3.8 percent previously, according to a European markets data roundup on October 15. The figure was among a series of European economic releases that day, which also put the Netherlands' September unemployment rate at 4.0 percent, unchanged from the prior reading.

In the same week, Sweden appeared among the countries associated with an international initiative covered by Reuters on October 14: Barbados is joining a group of countries calling for an international panel to address inequality, with supporters including Spain, Brazil, South Africa, Norway, Germany, Mexico, Iceland, Japan and Bangladesh. The group aims for a UN General Assembly resolution formally establishing the panel before next summer. Norway's Minister of International Development Asmund Aukrust said 15 countries had signed up and more were expected to pledge support at a meeting on Friday in Bangkok.

Monthly updates to the Swedish unemployment series will continue to be published by the Swedish Public Employment Service.
