Abbott Asks IRS to Extend Tax Deadlines for Texans Hit by July Storms

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has written to the Internal Revenue Service requesting extended tax filing and payment deadlines, along with penalty and interest relief, for Texans affected by the July storms. The request covers counties included in the federal major disaster declaration.
Abbott wrote that Texas families and businesses rebuilding after the disaster need more time on their taxes, and that federal relief would help storm victims focus on recovery.
