The Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, together with the Chinese American Federation, held a free public-interest sharing session titled 'Career Future' on Thursday, October 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 3 of the USC Musick Law Building, where three invited speakers discussed status planning and career development with USC students and alumni.

One of the speakers, Pang Fei, is a California attorney with 19 years of practice and founder of his own law firm, long serving Chinese businesses, international students and new immigrant communities. His talk focused on status planning and legal advice, addressing common blind spots for international students: an I-20 problem the student does not even know about; whether H-1B status allows only full-time work; and whether applying for H-1B through a large company really improves the odds in the lottery. Pang said that in 19 years as a lawyer he has seen too many students whose status was affected by one small oversight, and that understanding status planning early and avoiding detours is the most practical peace of mind one can give a child.

Also speaking were Mingming Wang, president of the U.S.-China E-Commerce Trade Association, on résumé improvement and breaking through in the job hunt, and Peter Cui, a data scientist at Snap, on industry choice and career advancement. According to the organizers, attendees could bring their résumés for face-to-face exchanges with the speakers; free Chinese snacks and milk tea were served, and a raffle offered HEYTEA gift cards.
