Trump's 'Super Intelligence' SI Task Force Meets for the First Time

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · White House · GSM News

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's new government task force on super intelligence was scheduled to meet for the first time on Thursday, a Federal Trade Commission spokesperson said, as pressure builds on the administration to confront the risks posed by the rapidly advancing technology, Reuters reported.

Trump has dubbed the group the Super Intelligence Task Force. According to Bloomberg, it is led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, with Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson and Defense Department technology lead Emil Michael also taking part.

Kupor told Reuters last week that he expects the group to release a charter outlining its goals and responsibilities after its first full committee meeting.

Bloomberg first reported the meeting, citing administration officials, as the administration faces mounting pressure to take a more aggressive approach to SI safety. A Reuters/Ipsos poll published on October 7 found that most American voters think the administration and Congress are not taking the risks of SI seriously enough and want the government to write new regulations for the technology.
