Antelope Valley Indian Museum Hosts Annual Native American Celebration Oct. 17-18 in Lancaster

California State Parks' Antelope Valley Indian Museum State Historic Park invites the public to its annual Native American Celebration on October 17 and 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the museum, 15701 East Avenue M, Lancaster, CA 93535. Admission is $10 for visitors over 12 years old and free for children 12 and under, according to the California State Parks event announcement.
The celebration opens with a blessing by Ted Garcia, an elder of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians / Chumash. The weekend program includes hoop dancing by Sage Romero (Paiute/Taos Pueblo), traditional songs by Kaelene Ashmore (Diné), Aztec dancing by Danza Azteca Xochipilli, Iroquois Smoke Dancers, and music from Blue Star, a Northern Style drum group.
Ted Garcia and Dennis Garcia will tell traditional Chumash stories. Hands-on activities at the touch table in Joshua Cottage include clay working and learning how to pound acorns and pine nuts. Native artists will offer handcrafted jewelry, beadwork, ceramics and gourd art for purchase, and the Wildhorse Native American Association will sell fry bread on site. The museum will be open for tours, with docents on hand.
California State Parks notes that pets are not allowed in the museum, while service animals are welcome under park policy.
