Feature: Introducing Chinese Artist Jinghui Zhuang

Jinghui Zhuang is a Chinese-American painter known for his color-ink works, and a longtime researcher of the art of modern master Zhang Daqian. According to his listing with the Greater American Institute of Art (GAIA), he serves as president of the Zhang Daqian Art Research Association in the United States, a researcher at the Sichuan Zhang Daqian Research Center, and executive vice president of the Chinese Painting Society in the United States. He is also a visiting professor at several fine-arts academies in China, and a senior consultant to Beverly Arts and David's Art Academy. A versatile artist, Zhuang paints, writes calligraphy and poetry, and also works in sculpture, oil painting and teapot making. Based in the United States, he takes part in organizing exhibitions and cultural exchanges, working to bring Chinese ink art to international audiences. In October 2016, his work was shown in the invitational exhibition of the 3rd Across the Pacific Chinese Art Festival at the San Francisco International Art Center in Fremont, where he was listed among the Chinese-American painters alongside masters such as Au Ho-nien and Ting Shao Kuang. On April 11, 2019, he took part in a charity art night in Beverly Hills; according to the Los Angeles Post’s coverage of the event, he donated his painting "Cosmic Imagination" to a charity auction, where it was acquired by a U.S. mayor; he also received a Beverly Art Charity Contribution Award that evening. In 2023, at the inaugural World Chinese Art Golden Pen Awards in Hong Kong, he received the Era Artist Merit Award alongside artists including Chen Danqing, Cai Guoqiang, Luo Zhongli and He Jiaying. He has also received, together with Leng Jun and other artists, a World International Avant-Garde Art Leader Award at Waseda University in Japan. Back in China, he founded the Zhuang Jinghui Art Museum, a private art museum bearing his name; its day-to-day operations are handled by a full-time director and staff, while he focuses on his own creative work and exchanges. GAIA notes that only a few overseas Chinese artists have a private art museum of their own. He remains based mainly in Los Angeles, traveling between the United States and China for his work and exchanges.
