London — Investors pulled money out of cash and put it into stocks and bonds in the week to Wednesday, according to a weekly flow summary from BofA Global Research based on EPFR data, Reuters reported on October 16.

Stock funds took in $64.5 billion in the week. Technology stocks received $10.7 billion, bringing their year-to-date inflows to a record $196 billion, while U.S. stocks received $39.1 billion, bringing their year-to-date total to a record $636 billion.

Bond funds received $11.8 billion. U.S. Treasuries received $3.6 billion, a 16th straight weekly inflow and the longest such streak since August 2024. Money market funds, which BofA counts as cash, saw outflows of $53.1 billion.

Emerging markets received $17.7 billion, including $8.6 billion into China. Brazil recorded a record $4.7 billion of inflows over the past two weeks.

Reuters noted in the same report that technology shares had been volatile in recent sessions, with the Nasdaq down 1.8% on Thursday, while government bonds rallied sharply that day and the 10-year Treasury yield fell 10 basis points after a steady selloff in recent months.
