DHS Secretary Mullin Oversees Phoenix Deportation Flights Removing Mexican Nationals With Serious Criminal Records to Mexico

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin oversaw multiple deportation flights out of Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday, October 16, that removed Mexican nationals with lengthy criminal histories to Mexico, according to Townhall.
In a Department of Homeland Security statement, Mullin said the flights carried out in Phoenix that day removed dangerous illegal aliens from the country and sent them back to Mexico, and that those deported included pedophiles, violent assailants, drug traffickers and gang members. He said removals of this kind are being carried out every day and will not stop.
According to the report, those removed included Jaime Velasquez Orozco, who received a final order of removal at the start of this month and whose record includes burglary and offenses involving a child under 14; Jiovany Baray-Acosta, whose convictions include drug possession and an aggravated DUI with a minor under 15 in the vehicle, who was deported once in 2016 and returned illegally in 2021; Noe Ochoa Torres, whose record includes child abuse and child sexual assault convictions and who had previously been deported in 2001 and 2006; Luis Antonio Vasquez Encinas, who entered legally in 2023, overstayed, has had a final order of removal since July, and was convicted of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor under 15; German Garcia-Ordonez, a four-time deportee convicted of assault and battery in the presence of a minor; and Filiberto Preciado-Gamboa, whose convictions range from battery to shoplifting and who DHS says is a member of the 18th Street gang. The report listed several additional prior deportees with convictions for driving offenses, assault or threats.
Mullin's Arizona trip also included a border wall tour. In a separate release dated October 16, DHS said Mullin and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott on Thursday toured secondary border barrier construction along the southern border in Arizona and met construction crews and Border Patrol personnel. DHS said the southern border has recorded 17 straight months with zero releases of illegal aliens and that Fiscal Year 2026 saw the lowest number of border crossings in American history.
