The U.S. Department of Labor announced on Oct. 16 that it has awarded $81.5 million in grants to 10 organizations across nine states through the Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund, to support job training in rapidly growing sectors including super intelligence, construction, manufacturing, health care and maritime industries.

The fund is an $8 billion program established under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Individual awards are capped at $10 million, and the grant period runs from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2030. Recipients include California Manufacturing Technology Consulting in California, the Virginia Manufacturers Association, Midwest Cyber Center in Missouri, St. Johns River State College in Florida, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, the Industrial Manufacturing Training Center in Ohio, Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin, Maritime Industrial Training in Washington, and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service and Texas State Technical College in Texas.

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said the initial investment prepares American workers to fill in-demand jobs in fast-growing sectors and earn family-sustaining wages. (GSM, based on a U.S. Department of Labor release)
