Zendaya to Star in Alex Garland's Untitled A24 Sci-Fi Film, Set to Shoot in 2027
Zendaya will star in an untitled science-fiction film written and directed by Alex Garland for A24, Variety reported on October 15. The feature is set to begin shooting in 2027. Plot details, additional cast members and a release date have not been announced. Deadline reported on the same day that the actress had signed on to the project.
The film marks another science-fiction feature for Zendaya after the Dune series. She reprises her role as the Fremen warrior Chani in Dune: Part Three, the concluding chapter of the trilogy adapted from Frank Herbert's novels, which is scheduled to open in theaters on December 16.
Garland has collaborated with A24 repeatedly, most recently on Civil War, Men and Warfare, following his directorial debut Ex Machina. For Zendaya, the project is a third collaboration with A24: she played Rue in the HBO series Euphoria, whose final season aired this spring, and starred as Emma Harwood in the A24 film The Drama, released in theaters in April.
The 30-year-old actress has had a full year of releases, including Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, in which she played the goddess Athena, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in which she returned as MJ, ahead of Dune: Part Three in December. The untitled Garland film is set to go before cameras in 2027.
