Michael Forest, the American actor who played Apollo in the original Star Trek, has died at 97, according to an obituary in The Hollywood Reporter.
Born Gerald Michael Charlebois on April 17, 1929, in North Dakota and raised in Seattle, Forest is best remembered as the Greek god Apollo in 'Who Mourns for Adonais?', the second-season Star Trek episode from 1967.
From the 1950s he alternated stage work in Shakespeare with films for B-movie maven Roger Corman, starring in Beast From Haunted Cave, Ski Troop Attack and Atlas. He appeared in more than a hundred films and over seventy-five television guest roles, did voice work for English versions of Japanese anime in later years, and reprised Apollo in the fan series Star Trek Continues in 2012.
