Odets' 'Waiting for Lefty' Begins Previews at Classic Stage Company; Pasquale's Directing Debut Runs to November 22

New York — Waiting for Lefty by Clifford Odets, the opening production of Classic Stage Company's 2026-27 season, began previews on October 15 at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater, 136 East 13th Street in New York, where it runs through November 22. First performed in 1935, the play marks the directing debut of actor Steven Pasquale.
The play follows Depression-era New York City taxi drivers gathered in a union hall to decide whether to strike for better wages and working conditions, as tensions rise while they wait for their leader, Lefty. This production adds original music and movement: music and arrangements are by Yeller Tooth (Sahar Milani and Cameron Scoggins), choreography is by Susan Misner, and the theater is transformed into a union hall for the performance. The 10-member company features Tony Award nominee Tala Ashe, Raffi Barsoumian, Austin Durant, Greg Hildreth, Adam Kantor, Doireann Mac Mahon, Zach McNally, Sahar Milani, Cameron Scoggins and Henry Stram.
On tickets, CSC's official site lists several rush options: TodayTix rush tickets are $48, released at 9 a.m. on the day of each performance with a limit of two per person; union and guild members can buy $30 rush seats in person at the box office starting one hour before curtain, limited to one ticket per customer, with general rush at $40 and student rush at $30, also one per customer. A $40 Under 40 night is set for October 20 at 7 p.m. (promo code CLASSIC40), and middle and high school students can buy $10 tickets for the November 14 matinee with the code TEEN10.
