Follow-Up: Rams Tackle Alaric Jackson's Punching Suspension Cut From Two Games to One on Appeal, Will Miss Cardinals Game Sunday

The NFL announced on Wednesday, October 14, that Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Alaric Jackson's suspension for punching an opponent has been reduced from two games to one on appeal, according to Reuters. GSM reported on October 14 that the league had initially suspended Jackson for two games; the reduction is the latest development in the case.
The incident followed Monday night's game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, where the Buffalo Bills beat the Rams 37-34 in overtime. After the game, Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb exchanged words with Jackson, who then walked toward Chubb and punched him in the face. The NFL previously said Jackson's act violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, covering acts contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.
The appeal was heard by appeals officer Derrick Brooks, the Hall of Fame linebacker jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association, who cut the penalty in half.
Jackson, 28, will miss the Rams' home game against the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium on Sunday and will be eligible to return to the Rams' active roster on Monday, October 19. Rams head coach Sean McVay said on Tuesday that Jackson has to make better decisions. Chubb said after Monday's game that it was an emotional contest and that he calmed down after teammates held him back. Source: Reuters, October 15, 2026, via Field Level Media.
