Netflix Expands 'Worst Ever' True-Crime Franchise With Two New Spinoffs

Saturday, October 17, 2026 · Film · GSM News

Netflix is expanding its 'Worst Ever' true-crime documentary franchise with two new spinoffs now in production, 'Worst In-Law Ever' and 'Worst Friend Ever,' television trade outlets reported Oct. 16. Both series are produced by Blumhouse Television and ITV America, the partnership behind the franchise's existing entries.

The strand launched with 'Worst Roommate Ever' in 2022, followed by 'Worst Ex Ever,' which returned for a second season in May, and 'Worst Neighbor Ever,' which premiered in July, topped Netflix's global streaming charts and has already been renewed for a second season. Entries in the franchise have combined for 17 weeks on Netflix's global top 10 television chart and 13 weeks on Nielsen's streaming originals chart.

The new series keep the franchise's format of first-hand interviews, police bodycam footage and dramatic recreations of cases of betrayal and violence, extending its focus from roommates, exes and neighbors to in-laws and friendships — relationships where a deep level of trust made the harm possible. No premiere dates have been set for either new series. (GSM, based on reporting by Programming Insider and Memorable TV)
