GWAR Teams With Joe Bob Briggs on New Album Due Nov. 13, Single 'Splatter-Fu' Out Now
Heavy metal band GWAR and drive-in movie host and critic Joe Bob Briggs announced on Oct. 16 a joint album, 'GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein,' arriving Nov. 13 via Pit Records on vinyl, CD and digital formats. The new single 'Splatter-Fu,' written for GWAR by John Brennan, and its official video are available now.
The album celebrates more than four decades of GWAR and 40 years of Joe Bob Briggs on television. Side A captures GWAR's live performance from 'The Last Drive-In' 2025 Halloween special, featuring GWAR originals alongside covers of beloved songs associated with Briggs's show. Brennan and his band John Brennan and the Bigfeet also contribute music to the record.
'Lordy Lordy, look who's 40! GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs. A match made in hell,' said GWAR frontman Mike Bishop, in character as Blöthar the Berserker, adding that GWAR would not exist without horror movies and spooky fun. Briggs said he called on his buddies, the intergalactic Scumdogs of the Universe, to bring 'some fear, some filth, and some fun' for Halloween. (GSM, based on reporting by Blabbermouth)
