Sabres Rally From Two Down to Beat Maple Leafs 5-4 in Overtime

Owen Power scored at 3:14 of overtime as the visiting Buffalo Sabres came from behind to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 on Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena, improving to 4-3-1 on the season.
Power's winner — his second overtime goal of the season — came off a pass from Jack Quinn, who recorded two goals, two assists and a fight for a Gordie Howe hat trick and a career-high-tying four points. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 26 saves on 30 shots. Buffalo trailed 4-2 after two periods before Dennis Gilbert scored his first goal as a Sabre — and his first for any team since Dec. 31, 2023 — midway through the third, and Mattias Samuelsson tied the game about two minutes later.
Kirill Marchenko scored a hat trick for Toronto, and John Tavares had two assists before leaving in the third period after a collision with Josh Norris; he did not return and was expected to be evaluated Friday. Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin missed his second straight game with an upper-body injury, though coach Lindy Ruff said he has a 50/50 chance to play Saturday in Montreal. Buffalo has won four of its last five meetings with Toronto. (GSM, based on reporting by Reuters and NHL.com)
