Voting Open in Menifee's 'Haunt Your House' Halloween Decorating Contest Through October 20
Menifee — Menifee is a city in Riverside County, California. Menifee's annual Halloween home-decorating contest, "Haunt Your House," has entered its public voting phase, according to the city's fall events announcement posted October 7. Residents can vote for their favorite entered home through an interactive map on the city's website from October 16 through October 20. Category winners will be crowned by a panel of judges, and all winners will be announced on the city's social media and special events webpage on Friday, October 23. Entries closed on October 12.
The contest is part of the city's fall community event series, which also includes the annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mt. San Jacinto College's Menifee Campus (28237 La Piedra Rd.), and a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration at the same venue on October 24.
Per the city, the Fall Festival continues Menifee's long-standing commitment to Domestic Violence Awareness Month: attendees who donate cleaning supplies or a full-sized toiletry item to Alternatives to Domestic Violence, a local nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of abuse and supporting families in need, receive a free kid-zone wristband; cash and Venmo donations are also accepted, with all proceeds going directly to the organization. Festival highlights include costume contests for families, youth 17 and under, and pets; community performances; live music and entertainment; a trunk-or-treat hosted by the Sun City Cruizers; and food and craft vendors.
