San Francisco Chinatown Night Market Lights Up Grant Avenue Tonight: 30 Food Stalls, Lion Dance, Free Vendor Fees

Saturday, October 17, 2026 · Events · GSM News

San Francisco is a city in San Francisco County, California (a consolidated city-county). The San Francisco Chinatown Night Market takes place on Saturday, October 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., on the 700 to 900 blocks of Grant Avenue in Chinatown. The city's official event page lists about 30 local food stalls, a lion dance and a DJ, with vendor fees waived in full to support Chinatown's small businesses. Grant Avenue is closed during the event; nearby residents can use Stockton Street or Kearny Street, or take Muni.

The night market is organized by community groups including BeChinatown, the local merchant organization that began installing red lanterns for businesses on Grant Avenue and Stockton Street in 2017 and held the first Chinatown Night Market in November 2023. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, some Chinatown restaurants saw business rise 30 to 40 percent on night market evenings. The market has since become a recurring Chinatown community event drawing residents and visitors back to the neighborhood at night.
