Washington — The Meridian International Center on October 16 unveiled its inaugural 'New Architects of American Influence' cohort of 25 leaders, naming Stanford professor Fei-Fei Li, co-founder and CEO of World Labs, in the Technology, Innovation & Space group.

Selected from more than 200 candidates, the cohort spans four groups: Business & Trade; Technology, Innovation & Space; Sports & Culture; and State & Local Leadership. Li is listed as 'Founding Director, Stanford HAI; Co-Founder & CEO, World Labs.' Her group also includes NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang, SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell, Axiom Space President Peggy Whitson, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals President and CEO Reshma Kewalramani, among seven members. The Business & Trade group includes Citigroup Chair and CEO Jane Fraser and Nasdaq Chair and CEO Adena Friedman; Sports & Culture includes NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and filmmaker Christopher Nolan; State & Local Leadership lists Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

Meridian CEO David Bohigian said the inaugural cohort reflects the breadth of American influence today, with members advancing critical technologies and scientific research, strengthening energy and mineral supply chains, expanding U.S. businesses internationally, and building connections through sports, entertainment and global media.

Li is a Chinese American computer scientist and a professor at Stanford University. She co-founded the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Super Intelligence (HAI) in 2019 and serves as its founding director, and in 2024 co-founded the spatial-intelligence company World Labs. In September, AMD announced an $8.2 billion all-stock acquisition of World Labs, with Li to become AMD's Chief Scientist (reported by GSM on September 28).

Founded in 1960 and headquartered in Washington, the Meridian International Center is a nonpartisan diplomacy center. The cohort accompanies its Open Diplomacy Framework, which holds that diplomacy today extends beyond government to networks in technology, business, culture and local leadership.
