Focus Features and Working Title's new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility opened in U.S. theaters nationwide on Oct. 16. Based on Jane Austen's first novel, published in 1811, the film is directed by Georgia Oakley from a screenplay by Diana Reid, and follows sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood as they navigate love, loss and financial uncertainty after their family's circumstances suddenly collapse.

Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as Elinor Dashwood, with Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne, Caitríona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood, George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Frank Dillane as John Willoughby and Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings. The film runs 2 hours 12 minutes and is rated PG.

Sense and Sensibility had its world premiere at London's Leicester Square on Sept. 15 and opened in the United Kingdom on Sept. 25. It currently holds a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 39 reviews. The production reunites Focus and Working Title on Austen material following 2005's Pride & Prejudice and 2020's Emma. (GSM, based on reporting by Focus Features and Rotten Tomatoes)
