Primark Recalls About 2,100 Children's Coin Purses Over Phthalate Levels, CPSC Says

Saturday, October 17, 2026 · Life · GSM News

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this week that Primark US Corp. is recalling its 101 Dalmatians faux leather coin purse, Model No. 2595301. The black purse has a picture of a dalmatian and 101 Dalmatians printed on the front, with the model number on a tag attached to the zip puller. According to the CPSC, the coin purses contain phthalate levels that exceed federal limits; such chemicals can be harmful if young children are exposed, including through ingestion, and certain phthalates have been linked to developmental effects and impacts on the hormone system. No incidents or injuries had been reported at the time of the recall.

About 2,100 units were sold at Primark stores in the Northeast and in Florida, Maryland and Illinois from March 2026 through June 2026 for about $9.

According to the CPSC notice, consumers should stop using the coin purses immediately, keep them away from children and return them to a Primark store for a full refund. Primark can be reached at 617-946-3236 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online via its recall page. (GSM, from CPSC recall information via ConsumerAffairs)
