Red Cross-Metallica Blood Donation Experience Collects 640 Donations in Two Weeks, Double Its Goal

The American Red Cross said on October 16 that its Red Cross x Metallica Blood Donation Experience collected 640 blood donations from September 28 through October 9, more than double its goal of 300. The pop-up site, at Fashion Show Las Vegas, averaged 64 donations a day against a daily goal of 30. It was built with Metallica and the band's foundation, All Within My Hands, and opened just before the band's residency at Sphere.
First-time donors made up 389 of the donations, nearly 61% of the total, compared with the 26% to 31% first-timers usually account for at Red Cross blood drives. Type O blood made up 218 donations, more than one-third of the total. 'We knew Metallica fans would come out to support this, but the number of first-time donors has been incredible,' said Rachel Flanigan, executive director of the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter. Donors receive a limited-edition T-shirt while supplies last and are automatically entered to win a replica TAMA drum kit.
The partnership began in April 2025 with blood drives at select stops on the U.S. leg of Metallica's M72 Tour, then expanded nationwide through the Give Where You Live program. The Red Cross said the partnership has brought in more than 25,000 donations in the United States and about 40,000 worldwide. The Las Vegas experience runs until March 19, 2027.
