Founder of Anaheim Nonprofit Caterina's Club Receives Inaugural Golden Carriage Award in Italy

ANAHEIM — Bruno Serato, founder of the Anaheim-based nonprofit Caterina's Club, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Golden Carriage Award by Italy's Castello Bevilacqua, in recognition of his humanitarian efforts, the organization said in a press release issued on October 17. The award, dated October 13, 2026, was presented in Italy.
Established in honor of Duchess Felicita Bevilacqua, whose legacy was defined by philanthropy, charity, inclusion and support for future generations, the Golden Carriage Award recognizes individuals whose personal and professional achievements have made a meaningful and lasting impact on society. In presenting the award, Castello Bevilacqua praised Serato, a Huntington Beach resident, for transforming his culinary career into a powerful instrument of philanthropy and for demonstrating how generosity, compassion and personal success can be harnessed to change thousands of lives.
Serato, a native of Italy who immigrated to the United States, is the owner of the Anaheim White House Italian steakhouse. He founded Caterina's Club in 2005, naming it for his mother Caterina, after witnessing children living in poverty who lacked access to nutritious meals, and began by preparing pasta dinners for a handful of children living in nearby motels.
According to the organization, Caterina's Club today serves approximately 25,000 nutritious meals each week to children in need throughout the region, and has expanded to include its Welcome Home Program, which helps struggling families secure permanent housing, and its Hospitality Academy, which provides at-risk youth with vocational training and career opportunities in the hospitality industry. Serato has previously been recognized as a CNN Hero, received knighthoods from the Italian government and the Royal House of Savoy, earned the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and received a papal blessing from Pope Francis. The organization is based at 50 S Anaheim Blvd #251, Anaheim, CA 92805.
