Argentina's September Inflation at 1.9% Monthly as Annual Rate Reaches 33.4%

Argentina's consumer prices rose 1.9 percent month on month in September, according to official INDEC data cited by the Buenos Aires Times. Annual inflation reached 33.4 percent, while cumulative inflation in 2026 stood at 23.6 percent. The monthly rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than August but remained below 2 percent for a second consecutive month.
The lower monthly rate marks a significant shift from Argentina's earlier inflation crisis, but with annual inflation still above 30 percent, households continue to face rising food and service prices. Slower inflation means prices are increasing less quickly; it does not mean prices have returned to previous levels.
Separately, the International Monetary Fund has lowered its forecast for Argentina's 2026 economic growth to 2.1 percent, while the government's proposed 2027 budget, submitted to Congress in September, projects growth of 4 percent. Further official data and implementation decisions will determine whether the inflation trend holds. (GSM, based on Buenos Aires Times reporting of INDEC data)
