Follow-Up: Hun Manet Holds Talks With Tokayev in Astana on First Kazakhstan Visit

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet arrived in Astana on October 17 for his first official visit to Kazakhstan, where President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed him at the Akorda Presidential Palace before the two leaders held expanded-format talks. Qazinform, citing the Akorda, reported Tokayev as saying the visit would open a new chapter in bilateral relations and translate shared intentions into practical cooperation.
Tokayev noted that this year marks the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations, and that a joint statement to be adopted the same day would formalize the two countries' shared vision alongside a number of agreements. He described Cambodia as a reliable partner in Southeast Asia and an important link in Kazakhstan's expanding partnership with ASEAN countries. The two sides also discussed widening cooperation in super intelligence, energy, agriculture and trade, and exploring direct air links.
The Astana stop continues a multi-country tour: Hun Manet earlier visited Azerbaijan for a summit and this week held talks in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with Cambodia and Türkiye signing a military framework agreement on October 16.
