Televisa and Fintech Consortium to Buy AT&T Mexico for $2 Billion

Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings, the investment firm of Mexican billionaire David Martínez, have agreed to buy AT&T's wireless business in Mexico for $2 billion in an all-cash deal. Televisa announced the agreement on October 13, 2026, in an investor-relations release; the price is subject to adjustments.
Televisa and Fintech would each own 50 percent of the consortium, which expects to finance the transaction through cash on hand and non-recourse secured debt financing. Televisa said it anticipates accounting for the acquisition as an investment in a joint venture using the equity method. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
AT&T Mexico had approximately 24.7 million wireless subscribers as of December 31, 2025, and reported consolidated revenue of 85.4 billion pesos and operating income of 1.4 billion pesos for 2025. AT&T Mexico was formed in 2015 after AT&T acquired Iusacell and Nextel Mexico. (GSM, based on Televisa's investor announcement)
