Taiwan Finance Minister Chuang Tsui-yun will take her seat alongside ministers or senior representatives from the 21 APEC economies when the 33rd APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting opens in Hong Kong on October 20, Taiwan's finance ministry confirmed on October 13. The two-day gathering is the first time Hong Kong has hosted the meeting.

Discussions will centre on the global economic and financial outlook, fiscal measures to support households and affordability, digital infrastructure financing, financial-services access and job opportunities, according to the Canadian government.

Ahead of the meeting, Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan has pitched the city as a hub for financing the region's digital and green shift, pointing to more than $76 billion in green and sustainable debt issued in the city in 2025, including about $38 billion in bonds arranged there — topping Asia by issuance volume for an eighth straight year.
