Dubai Crown Prince Names SWS Board Technology Winner of Dubai-it Award for Economy

Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced on October 17 that SWS Board Technology is the winner of the Dubai-it Award in the field of Economy, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported. The company has developed one of the world's largest manufacturing operations for snow and water sports boards in Dubai, leveraging its expertise in composite materials.
"Who would have imagined that one of the world's largest snowboard manufacturing operations would emerge from a city that was once desert?" Sheikh Hamdan said. He noted that Rainier Nouhra started SWS in Dubai, and that it today produces half of the world's kiteboards and wakeboards and one-third of its snowboards, with capacity exceeding 450,000 boards a year and more than 6 million boards sold. Its Dubai-made boards have reached the world's biggest competitions, including the Winter Olympic Games.
SWS Board Technology exports its entire output to international markets and supplies leading snow and water sports brands. The Dubai-it Award recognises Dubai-born projects with global reach. (GSM, based on WAM reporting)
