Pennsylvania Secures $21.7 Million CP Industries Expansion in McKeesport, Creating 78 Jobs

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Lt. Governor Austin Davis announced that CP Industries will invest $21.7 million to expand its manufacturing operations in McKeesport, Allegheny County, creating 78 new jobs. The company will also upgrade its steel cylinder operations with new equipment, boosting production capacity by 50 percent and supporting significant sales growth.
"Pennsylvania went head-to-head with other states to secure this investment in the Mon Valley — and we won," Shapiro said. "Time and again, our economic strategy and targeted investments are showing companies across the world that our Administration is committed to making the Commonwealth the best place in the nation for companies to grow." According to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), CP Industries, part of EKC International, received a DCED funding proposal coordinated by the Governor's BusinessPA team: a $3,060,000 Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan, an $805,000 Pennsylvania First grant, and a $115,800 WEDnetPA grant to train its workers.
Lt. Governor Davis, who grew up in McKeesport, said it is exciting to see a hometown company decide to stay and expand, creating more jobs and building ladders of opportunity. DCED said manufacturing is one of the key industries in Governor Shapiro's 10-year Economic Development Strategy, designed to help Pennsylvania win and become a national leader in economic development, innovation and job creation.
