New Jersey Releases Final 2027 Health Insurance Rates for Individual Market
The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance has published final plan year 2027 rate changes for health insurance carriers in the individual market, including Get Covered New Jersey, the state's official health insurance marketplace. Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
Consistent with nationwide trends, New Jersey plans will see double-digit rate increases for 2027. Carriers cited rising medical and prescription drug costs and a worsening risk pool after the federal government failed to renew enhanced premium tax credits, the department said. Under state law, the department does not approve rates.
'New Jersey families are already grappling with a serious affordability crisis,' said Governor Mikie Sherrill, adding that her administration will continue fighting to lower costs.
