Oklahoma Attorney General Drops Lawsuit That Accused Gov. Stitt of 'Smear Campaign'

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is dropping his lawsuit against Gov. Kevin Stitt and a network of political groups he accused of targeting his Republican bid for governor with a 'malicious smear campaign,' The Oklahoman reported on October 16.
Drummond's attorneys filed paperwork to drop the lawsuit on Thursday, October 15, one day before a key court deadline ahead of an October 23 hearing. Lawyers for Stitt and for School Freedom Fund Oklahoma denied any wrongdoing and had asked a judge to dismiss the case.
Drummond filed the libel lawsuit in May. He advanced from the June 16 primary alongside Mike Mazzei, who won the August 25 runoff and will appear on the November 3 general election ballot.
