140th State Fair of Texas Wraps Up 24-Day Run at Fair Park in Dallas

DALLAS — Dallas is a city in Dallas County, Texas. The 140th State Fair of Texas closed on Oct. 18 at Fair Park in Dallas, ending a 24-day run that began Sept. 25.
This year's fair, themed "Stars, Stripes, and Howdies," featured the 55-foot cowboy icon Big Tex greeting visitors at the fairgrounds entrance. Organizers had projected total attendance of more than two million visitors across the 24 days. Founded in 1886, the State Fair of Texas is among the largest state fairs in the United States, with agricultural and livestock exhibitions, an auto show, rides, live music and a wide range of fair food.
Fair Park, a 277-acre National Historic Landmark district southeast of downtown Dallas, returns to regular operations following the fair's close.
