Menifee Day of the Dead Celebration Set for October 24 at Mt. San Jacinto College With Community Altars and Catrina Contest

MENIFEE — Menifee is a city in Riverside County, California. The City of Menifee will hold its Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) celebration on Saturday, October 24, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Menifee campus of Mt. San Jacinto College, 28237 La Piedra Rd, Menifee. The event is open to the public and no tickets are required.
According to the city's events calendar, the family-friendly celebration will showcase the sights, sounds and traditions of Día de los Muertos through live performances, traditional music and dance, community altars and a Catrina Contest, alongside authentic cuisine, artisan vendors, a children's Kids Zone and a classic car display by the Familia Gonzales Car Club.
In an earlier city post, residents were invited to apply to set up a traditional altar or tapete display honoring loved ones, through the city's cultural arts office ([email protected]). The same campus hosted the city's Fall Festival on October 17; the Day of the Dead celebration is the next event in Menifee's October special-events series.
Día de los Muertos, observed around November 1–2, is a Mexican tradition in which families honor the dead with altars, marigolds, food and music. Menifee's celebration falls one weekend ahead of the holiday; the city's next listed special event is a Veterans Day celebration on November 11 at Central Park.
