Mission Viejo Día de los Muertos Fiesta Set for Oct. 24 at Norman P. Murray Center, Free Admission

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. — Mission Viejo is a city in Orange County, California. The Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Fiesta organized by the Mission Viejo Activities Committee will take place on Saturday, October 24, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo, CA 92692. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
The celebration features live entertainment, traditional folklórico dancing, mariachi bands, food, free crafts and face painting, artisan vendors, and a new live butterfly experience this year. At dusk, a procession will lead guests to a display of illuminated classic-car ofrendas (altars).
Attendees may bring a photo of a loved one for the community altar, and the event includes ofrenda and Catrina costume contests. Organizers say the fiesta invites residents of all cultures, nationalities and ages to remember loved ones, celebrate heritage and connect with the community.
