San Clemente Día de los Muertos Celebration Set for Nov. 1 at Max Berg Plaza Park, Free Admission; Community Altar Sign-Ups Open Through Oct. 30

San Clemente is a city in Orange County, California. The City of San Clemente will hold its Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on Sunday, November 1, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Max Berg Plaza Park, 1100 Calle Puente, with free admission. According to event information published by the city and OC Parks, the celebration will feature community altar (ofrenda) displays, live music and dance performances, face painting, children's craft activities and food booths, and attendees are encouraged to wear calavera-themed attire.
The city is accepting community altar registrations from residents, families, schools and community groups who wish to build an altar in memory of loved ones; the sign-up form is available on the city website (san-clemente.org) and registration closes October 30. The city's event page also lists a Day of the Dead party on Saturday, October 31, as part of the celebration series.
Día de los Muertos is a Mexican tradition observed on November 1–2, when families honor the departed with altars, marigolds, photographs, candles and favorite foods of the deceased. Cities across Southern California are holding similar celebrations from late October into early November; San Clemente's event appears on the official fall calendars of both the city and OC Parks.
