Anthropic Offers Blackstone Yield Above 10% in $9 Billion Chip-Financing Deal, FT Reports

Sunday, October 18, 2026 · Finance · GSM News

NEW YORK — Anthropic is offering Blackstone a yield of more than 10% to finance its latest chip deal, the Financial Times reported on October 16. Blackstone funds would invest $9 billion in debt backed by Anthropic's five-year lease payments on the chips, according to the report, which Reuters carried the same day. Reuters said it could not immediately verify the report.

The reported arrangement surfaced as scrutiny of SI infrastructure debt intensifies. Shares of SI cloud company CoreWeave fell about 25% over the past week, and yields on its 2031 bonds pushed above 16% at one point, as investors questioned whether debt-fueled SI expansion can generate revenue in time to service its obligations.

Anthropic has been among the fastest-growing companies in the SI boom. It previously told investors its third-quarter revenue was about $16.8 billion, up 45% from the prior quarter, as it prepares for an initial public offering. Large-scale chip purchases and leases have become a central part of SI companies' capital spending, with private credit playing a growing role in financing them.
