Yokohama Chinatown held a parade on Oct. 10 marking the Double Tenth National Day of the Republic of China (115th year, 2026), with the local Chinese community gathering at the Yokohama Chinese Academy for celebrations, according to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan. Taipei's representative to Japan, Lee Yi-yang, attended the ceremony at the academy. Hsu Yao-keng, president of the Yokohama Chinese Association, spoke on behalf of the local Chinese community, pledging to carry on the traditions and spirit of Yokohama's overseas Chinese and to deepen Taiwan-Japan exchanges; Lo Hung-chien, president of the Japan Chinese United Association, also spoke. Yokohama Chinatown is Japan's largest Chinatown with more than 160 years of history, and the Yokohama Chinese Academy is a long-established Chinese school there. Overseas Chinese groups in Yokohama, Kobe and elsewhere hold National Day celebrations each year. The parade wound through Chinatown's main streets, drawing crowds of residents and tourists. The Yokohama Chinese Association is one of the oldest overseas Chinese organisations in Japan, serving the local Chinese community.
