BOSTON — The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts announced on October 15 that Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, 30, has pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston. Prosecutors said Andujar Sanchez, a Dominican national unlawfully residing in the United States, had been living at the Quality Inn in Revere. He pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl and one count of being an unlawfully present alien in possession of a firearm.

According to prosecutors, a search of the hotel room where Andujar Sanchez was staying on December 27, 2024, turned up more than 4.5 kilograms of fentanyl, an AR-style rifle, ammunition, three rifle magazines, digital scales and a large quantity of latex gloves. He was taken into state custody at the time. He was arrested and charged federally in January 2025 and was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2026.

U.S. District Judge Allison D. Burroughs scheduled sentencing for January 7, 2027. The fentanyl charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life in prison, and prosecutors said Andujar Sanchez will face deportation proceedings after serving any sentence. U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the plea alongside the Drug Enforcement Administration's New England Field Division and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' Boston Field Division. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Brian Sullivan and Brad Rocheville are prosecuting the case, and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office and the Revere Police Department provided assistance in the investigation.
