HONG KONG — 'The Living Dragon' (夢物語), starring veteran Japanese action actor Yasuaki Kurata, has been officially invited to the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2026, where it will receive its international premiere. Screenings are set for Nov. 5 at 7:40 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Broadway Cinematheque in Yau Ma Tei.

The omnibus film tells three stories set in Japan and Hong Kong about people pursuing their dreams, under the theme that 'the spirit of challenge transcends age.' Kurata, who turned 80, conceived and produced the film as a reflection of his six decades in action cinema. It is directed by Koichi Sakamoto, Kenji Tanigaki and Yuji Shimomura, and features Hong Kong action star Sammo Hung among the cast.

Kurata has been a fixture of Japanese and Hong Kong action films since the 1960s, appearing in numerous kung fu classics. Returning to Hong Kong with a self-produced premiere carries special meaning for both the actor and local fans.
