Cashman Field Hosts Its Final Game as Las Vegas Lights Fall 5-3 in Farewell Match

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas is a city in Clark County, Nevada. Cashman Field hosted its final professional sporting event on Saturday night, October 17, as the Las Vegas Lights fell 5-3 to Lexington SC in 'Farewell to Cashman Night,' after a 2-2 first half. The defeat also ended the Lights' playoff hopes; the club had said before the match that a draw or a loss would eliminate the team from contention.
Cashman Field opened in 1983 and hosted baseball, soccer, political rallies and community events over the decades. The Lights called it home for nine seasons, since 2018. 'As Las Vegas has become an internationally recognized sports city, it is important to remember and celebrate the significance of Cashman to our city's history of professional sports culture,' Lights owner Jose Bautista said. Early-arriving fans on Saturday received a miniature replica of the ballpark, with fireworks before the match and a light show afterward.
The farewell follows the sale of the site: the City of Las Vegas put the Cashman Complex up for auction in late 2024, homebuilder Lennar submitted the highest bid, and the City Council unanimously approved the sale in March 2025. The site has entered redevelopment as The Foundry, planned for about 1,000 homes. No demolition date has been announced, and the Lights have not yet said where they will play home games in 2027.
