Mainland-Macau Higher Education Fair Held in Macau with Nearly 140 Universities; Over 9,600 Macau Students Study on the Mainland

The Mainland and Macau Higher Education Fair was held in Macau from Oct. 16 to 18, co-organised by the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education and the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau government. Nearly 140 universities took part, including more than 120 mainland institutions. The organisers said more than 9,600 Macau students are currently studying on the mainland, admitted through channels such as the four-university joint examination, recommended admission and the joint entrance examination for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas Chinese applicants. The fair offered admissions counselling booths, talks and student-sharing sessions to help Macau secondary students and parents learn about admission policies, scholarships and campus life. Macau students' study choices have diversified in recent years; beyond local institutions such as the University of Macau and Macau University of Science and Technology, the share going on to the mainland and overseas keeps rising. The organisers said the fair provides a face-to-face platform for prospective students and parents to talk directly with admissions officers, drawing large crowds over its three days.
