Hengqin Port's Joint One-Stop Vehicle Lanes Surpass 10 Million Crossings

The 'Guangdong-Macau Joint One-Stop' vehicle lanes at Hengqin Port had handled more than 10 million cross-border vehicle crossings by 10 a.m. on Oct. 13, according to Gongbei Customs. Hengqin pioneered the model nationwide in 2023, integrating inspection procedures of five Guangdong and Macau inspection agencies into 'one collection, separate handling, joint release,' with the customs release step taking only about 23 seconds. The lanes were expanded and fully commissioned in 2024 alongside the Hengqin cooperation zone's tiered-management policy, followed in 2025 by innovations such as a shared electronic tag for Macau single-plate cars, 'drive-through' clearance for cross-border students, and point-to-point hospital transfers between Hengqin and Macau. This year alone the port has handled over 3.57 million vehicles, up more than 37.7 percent year on year, with Macau single-plate cars accounting for more than 2.37 million — over 60 percent of the total. Daily crossings have climbed from about 5,000 in the early days to more than 12,000. In August, second-phase freight clearance arrangements enabled cross-border e-commerce air cargo to move 'on one vehicle' directly to Macau airport. Gongbei Customs said it will continue deepening clearance facilitation with SI and digital technologies.
