Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Plays Strauss, Ravel and Beethoven's 'Eroica' at The Wallis Today

BEVERLY HILLS — The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) performs its Strauss, Ravel, Beethoven program today, October 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Wallis in Beverly Hills (9390 N Santa Monica Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90210), led by Music Director Jaime Martín with pianist Conrad Tao as soloist. The same program played Zipper Hall in downtown Los Angeles (200 S Grand Avenue) on Saturday evening, October 17.
The concert opens with Richard Strauss's Metamorphosen, scored in its original form for 23 solo strings — a work Martín has long wanted to share with LACO audiences and one the orchestra last performed in 1999. Conrad Tao then joins for Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major, and the program culminates with Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, the 'Eroica.'
Tao, a pianist and composer and an Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, has been praised by New York Magazine as 'the kind of musician who is shaping the future of classical music.' The LACO box office can be reached at (213) 221-3920 or [email protected]; the orchestra notes that artists, programs, times, locations and prices are subject to change and all sales are final.
