A business delegation organised by the United Chinese Associations of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, has travelled to Hainan Province for a roughly 10-day study tour of the island's industrial development and innovation and entrepreneurship platforms. According to China News Service, the group visited Haikou, Wenchang, Qionghai and Sanya, and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Hainan provincial government hosted a policy briefing and exchange on the Hainan Free Trade Port, with the Hainan International Economic Development Bureau outlining park platforms and industrial planning, and officials of the Hainan Overseas Chinese innovation and entrepreneurship park explaining the free trade port's customs-closure operations. Several delegation members have already invested in Hainan, including one who grows pepper in Wenchang with relatives. Members said Hainan and Malaysia are geographically close and culturally connected, with strong industrial complementarity and broad cooperation potential in tropical agriculture, food processing, aquaculture, health care and cultural tourism. The United Chinese Associations of Kota Kinabalu is one of Sabah's major Chinese community organisations. (GSM, compiled from China News Service reporting)
