Houston Ballet Closes Its Segerstrom Debut Today, With George Li Playing Chopin Onstage

COSTA MESA — Houston Ballet performs at Segerstrom Center for the Arts for the first time from October 15 to 18, closing today, October 18, with a 1 p.m. performance of Stanton Welch's Sons de L'âme at Segerstrom Hall, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa.
The production marks the work's West Coast debut and is set entirely to piano music by Frédéric Chopin. Pianist George Li shares the stage with 20 company dancers, performing live as the choreography merges with the music. According to Segerstrom Center, this run marks only the third time the ballet has been performed in its entirety.
Founded in 1969, Houston Ballet is the nation's fourth-largest ballet company, led by Artistic Directors Julie Kent and Stanton Welch. George Li made his Carnegie Hall debut at age 11 and won the silver medal at the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition; The Washington Post has praised his staggering technical prowess and depth of expression.
Through the Center's 30 Under 30 program, patrons under 30 can buy select Dance Series tickets for $30 with the code 30UNDER30, subject to limited availability.
